Making Smarter Landscaping Choices

Are You Evaluating Your Landscape In Order To Make Major Changes?

Did you keep your landscaping simple during the spring and summer of 2019? Perhaps you traveled a lot and you knew you wouldn't be home to take care of anything you planted. Or, it might be that your kids' activities got in the way. No matter the reason that you weren't able to landscape, maybe you have bigger plans for 2020.

If you do not already have a plan for your landscaping in mind, you may still be looking for ideas that will add interest to your home landscape. From arranging for fence installation to adding statuary to your garden areas, here are some ideas that might help you.

Fence Installation

Have you been considering arranging for fence installation for awhile? If so, that will certainly add interest to your home. Think of talking to a fence contractor to get ideas from him or her. He or she will have the experience to tell you which type of fencing would be best for your house.

For example, maybe you have a Tuscan- or Mexican-style home. If so, the fence contractor might suggest that you have a wrought-iron fence installed, as it would certainly complement your Tuscan or Mexican home. If you have a ranch-style house, maybe the contractor will recommend a rustic wooden fence. And, if you have a traditional home or a cottage-style house, then a white picket fence would probably be your best choice.

Add Statuary

Think of how you can use statuary in your garden landscaping. That might not be as dramatic as adding a fence to your property, but it will still add interest.

For example, perhaps you are wanting a major focal point for your front yard. With that in mind, think about planting something like pampas grass or caladiums. Then put a large statue in a strategic place, maybe even in the very front of the planted area. A large angel or the statue of a saint might be perfect. Another statue idea that will create a focal point is to purchase a large contemporary sculpture.

Small statues will add pizzazz to your landscaping, too. For instance, maybe you have decided to have a koi pond in one area of your back yard. Wouldn't it be nice to have a statue of a child looking down into the pond? Or, you could even have a statue of a small child holding a fishing pole. You'll probably discover that working with statues can be a lot of fun.
